چکیده
Abstract Manufacturing craves for more sustainable solutions machining heat-resistant alloys. In this paper, an assessment of different cooling lubrication approaches Ti6Al4V milling was carried out. Cryogenic cutting (liquid nitrogen) and conventional (oil-based fluid) were assessed with respect to dry cutting. To study the effects main relevant process parameters, proper energy models developed, validated then used comparing analysed strategies. The model parameters identified exploiting data from specifically conceived experiments. power out considering perspectives, a bottom-up approach. Indeed, it found that cryogenic cooling, thanks better tribological behaviour, is less demanding (at least 25%) than If spindle considered, lower saving percentages can be expected. showed its best performance (from 3 11 times) if machine tool perspective analysed. Considering even primary required producing fluids, requires up 19 times

Metallic biomaterials have essentially three fields of use; these are the artificial hip joints, screw, plates and nails for internal fixation of fractures, and dental implants. Any of these devices must support high mechanical load and resistance of material against breakage is essential. High mechanical properties are needed for structural efficiency of surgical and dental implants. But their...
متن کاملMulti-objective process optimization for micro-end milling of Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy
Micro-end milling is one of the promising methods for rapid fabrication of features with 3D complex shapes. However, controlling the micro-end milling process to obtain the desired results is much harder compared to that of macro-end milling due to the size effect and uncontrollable factors. The problem is much pronounced when workpiece material is a difficult-to-process material such as titani...

This paper studied the cutting properties of Ti-6Al-4V under cryogenic cooling to find a solution of improvement in tool load-carrying, thermal stress, tool life and finish quality. Firstly, this paper established a 3-D cutting model of Ti-6Al-4V under cryogenic cooling with liquid nitrogen, and then set the parameters of material, friction model and cutting conditions. Based on this model, the...
متن کاملDurability of Fe-Co Thin Films on Ti-6Al-4V
The durability of Fe-Co thin films bonded on Ti-6Al-4V was studied as a function of layer thickness at ambient temperature. Interface toughness of the thin films was characterized by indentation and analyzed using an interface fracture model. The critical stresses for interface debonding and the fatigue life response of Ti-6Al-4V with and without Fe-Co thin films were evaluated by three-point b...
